Rodiny s týraným a sexuálně zneužívaným dítětem vykazují sníženou schopnost měnit své fungování v běžných i problematických situacích.The aim of the thesis was to chart family relations and their dynamics from the view of maltreated and abused children. The research was conducted on 27 children, who were psychically or emotionally maltreated or sexually abused in the family and who were placed in institutional care in the Czech Republic. The Family System Test (Gehring, 2005) was used for data collecting which is focused especially on evaluation of dimensions: coherence, hierarchy and flexibility. Method of the semistructured interview was used for the smaller part. The results of the research have proved that families where maltreatment or abuse appeared are evaluated by children as less cohesive with low level of the hierarchy or on the contrary high level of the hierarchy. In these families the intergenerational coalitions (40,7 %) and the overturned hierarchy (18,5 %) arise significantly more. The families with abused children have less ability to change their functioning in normal or problematic situations.
