Cílem této práce je porozumět tomu, jak akademický stres ovlivňuje sebepojetí mediků. Výzkumný design je kvalitativního charakteru, konkrétně byla použita mnoho-případová studie. Data byla získána pomocí polostrukturovaného interview. Pro triangulaci dat byla v návaznosti na interview s mediky provedena další s osobami jim blízkými, pro získání dalšího pohledu na problematiku. Interview se tedy zúčastnilo pět respondentů mediků a pět respondentů osob blízkých. Analýza a interpretace dat byla provedena podle stanovených pravidel IPA. Výsledná data poukázala na výrazný vliv neúspěchu na sebepojetí studentů. Dalším výrazným pozitivně působícím faktorem je podpora blízkých. Výsledky výzkumu naznačují, že vlivem studia medicíny dochází ke zhoršení psychického zdraví studentů, nejčastěji jsou ohroženi rozvojem úzkostných poruch. Tato data se shodují s již provedenými zahraničními výzkumy.This thesis aims to understand how academic stress affects the self-concept of medical students. The research design is qualitative, specifically a multi-case study. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews. To triangulate the data, further interviews were conducted with persons close to the medical students to gain further insight into the issue. Therefore, five respondents of medical students and five respondents of persons close to them participated in the interviews. Data analysis and interpretation was done according to the laid down rules of IPA. The resultant data indicated a significant effect of failure on the students' self-concept. Another significant positive influencing factor is the support of loved ones. The results of the research suggest that the influence of studying medicine leads to a deterioration of students' mental health, they are most often at risk of developing anxiety disorders. This data is consistent with research already conducted abroad.
