Také uvádí několik definic těhotenství, popisuje fyzický a psychický vývoj ženy během těhotenství. Dále uvádí významnou roli partnera a porodní asistentky. The research work deals with the interconnection of the fields of psychology and obstetrics. It focuses on the woman's perception of pregnancy, the psychological changes that accompany the pregnancy period and the internal and external influences that can affect her mental state. The theoretical part focuses on explaining the concepts of psychology, psychosomatics, self, self-concept and self-esteem. Also lists several definitions of pregnancy, describes the physical and mental development of a woman during pregnancy. She also mentions the important role of partner and midwife. Finally, he mentions possible determinants with an effect on a woman's experience of pregnancy. The aim of the practical part of the work is to determine the average self-esteem of pregnant women according to the Rosenberg scale and the determinants that affect this self-esteem. These determinants include the age of the pregnant woman, the gestational week in which she is currently situated, and the fact whether she lives with her husband and is employed or not. We also find out if, in general, pregnancy is a condition that affects self-esteem. The research was conducted using a questionnaire. The profile of the research group consisted of 220 respondents, of which 120 were pregnant women and 100 were non-pregnant women, who formed a control group for evaluation. The statistical processing of this diploma thesis shows that pregnancy, age, gestational week, marriage and employment are not circumstances that significantly affect a woman's self-esteem.
