The master´s thesis is focused on the relation aggression (RA) in adolescence, mainly the gender differences in RA, the effect of age on RA, the comparison of different approaches to measurement and the connection among anxiety, depression and RA. The thesis is based on the last three decades of studying this topic when RA was mainly described as a type of aggression which occurs more often among girls. There is a strong scientific evidence that RA is connected with internalizing symptoms (deppresion, anxiety etc.). The recent meta-analysis questioned the understanding of RA as a "female type" of aggression and emphasized that different results are connected with chosen methods of measurement, the developmental impact on RA and also the sociocultural influence. This study used different methods of measurement of RA: self-report scale (RAS), peer nomination and teacher nomination (CSBS-T). The results support the previous meta-analysis. There is no evidence supporting the gender differences in RA. On the other hand there is a significant difference among results obtained using various methods of measurement which also supports the previous findings. The age has a strong effect on results. The connection among anxiety, depression and RA cannot be consider as significant.
