Práce se zabývá založením podniku Škoda Ostrov, strojírenského závodu na výrobu trolejbusů a slévárenského zařízení, v kontextu politického vývoje v druhé polovině 20. století. Závod byl vytvořen jako náhrada za rušený národní podnik Jáchymovské doly - Jáchymov, jenž v oblasti Jáchymovska těžil uranovou rudu. Cílem bylo popsat proces výstavby v kontextu politického a regionálního vývoje, zejména vzhledem k institucím zapojeným v rozhodování o podobě továrny, a rovněž přehodnotit původní marxistické práce na dané téma. Struktura textu byla dána kapitolami věnovanými těžbě uranu v oblasti, plánování a výstavbě nového závodu, včetně schvalovacího procesu či převodu objektů bývalých Jáchymovských dolů, a konečně závěrečné podobě závodu se vztahem k městu. V závěru je konstatováno, že výstavba závodu potvrzuje obecné hospodářské rysy dané doby a reviduje původní marxistické texty.The thesis is focused on the foundation of company Škoda Ostrov, an engineering plant for the production of trolleybuses and foundry equipment, in the context of political development in the second half of the 20th century. The factory was created as a substitute for the abolished Jáchymov mines, which mined uranium ore in the Jáchymov area. The aim of the thesis was to describe the construction process in the context of political and regional development, with a special regard to the institutions involved in the decision-making process of the factory, and to re-evaluate the older works of the communist era on the subject. The structure of the text was given by chapters on uranium mining in the area, the planning and construction of a new plant, including the approval proces or the transfer of the buildings of the former Jáchymov mines, and in the ending the final form of the city-plant relationship. In conclusion, it is stated that the construction of the plant confirms the general economic features of the time and that the thesis re-evaluates older texts.
