Bakalářská práce se zabývá obrazem ženy ve filmu Hester street (1975) americké režisérky Joan Micklin Silver. Práce postihuje a analyzuje ženské hrdinky ve vztahu k manželství, k židovskému náboženství, její postavení ve společnosti i ve vztahu k ženství. Tyto aspekty zkoumá se soustavným zřetelem na genderové i historicky-náboženské odkazy snímku. Pomocí neoformalistické analýzy práce zkoumá a analyzuje prostředky, jimiž režisérka vyzdvihuje ženskou hrdinku do popředí, jako dominantu snímku. Ústřední ženské hrdinky porovnávám s hrdinkami klasického Hollywoodu 30. let i s hrdinkami snímků z let 70. Metodologicky vycházím z teorie neoformalismu Kristin Thompson a také z vybraných feministických teorií.This bachelor thesis depicts the image of heroine characters in the film Hester Street (1975) by the American director Joan Micklin Silver. This thesis interprets and analyzes its female characters in particular their relationships to marriage, to the Jewish religion, their positions in society and their relationships to womanhood. These aspects are examined with constant regard to gender and the historically-religious references of this film. Through the use of the neoformalist analysis this thesis examines and analyzes the instruments which are used by the director to highlight the female character as a dominant of this film. The main female characters are compared with both female heroines of classic Hollywood in 1930´s and with alternative heroines of 1970´s. Methodologically I draw from a theory of neoformalism by Kristin Thompson and as well as from other specific feminist theories.
