This bachelor thesis is focused on the study of biological activity of sex hormone conjugates with N-Boc-valine in vitro. These conjugates, derived from testosterone, estradiol and 2-methoxyestradiol, are investigated for their potential antiproliferative activity. The theoretical part summarizes the knowledge on cell cycle regulation and programmed cell death - apoptosis. Attention is also focused on steroid receptors and their ligands. In the experimental part, the effect of the tested substances on the HeLa tumor cell line, derived from cervical carcinoma, and the MCF7 tumour line, derived from breast adenocarcinoma, was studied. The expression of apoptotic markers and steroid receptors was monitored by western blotting. Subsequently, the effect of the tested substances on the translocation of steroid receptors from the cytoplasm to the nucleus was observed by immunofluorescence.
