Práce zasazuje do kontextu doby život, hudební tvorbu a osobnost skladatele, dirigenta, hudebního redaktora Československého rozhlasu Ostrava, sběratele a upravovatele lidových písní, vedoucího hudebních souborů, předsedu Společnosti českých skladatelů při Asociaci hudebních umělců a vědců, manažera a dramaturga festivalu Dny soudobé hudby - Jaromíra Dadáka. This master's thesis deals with the life of composer, conductor, music editor of the Czechoslovak Radio Ostrava, collector and arranger of folk songs, leader of music ensembles, chairman of the Society of Czech Composers at the Association of Music Artists and Scientists, manager and dramaturg of the Days of Contemporary Music festival; Jaromír Dadák in the context of events of the second half of the 20th century. Further focus on the composer's role in establishing the cimbalom as a concert instrument first provides insight into the situation of the cimbalom during the composer's life. On the dialectic of the composer-performer-pedagogue relationships illustrates the background of the process in which the cimbalom gains its equal position among other musical instruments in the field of classical music. Subsequently, it deals with Dadák's relationship and approach to this instrument, the source of his inspiration and the motivation to pay him considerable compositional attention. It was also necessary to present some of the arrangements that the composer created for orchestras of folk instruments in which the cimbalom appeared. These examples demonstrated the composer's perception of this instrument and his approach to the use of the cimbalom and its possibilities, which we could also hear in his concert compositions for the instrument. In connection with the dissemination of Dadák's work, an edition of Variations on a Folk Song "Janko, Janko, zlá novina" for a solo cimbalom was prepared, which is part of this work. Thanks to the mediated access to the Dadák family archive, a catalogue of the author's work and the collection of material for this purpose were also started. A chapter with a catalogue of compositions has been created from the materials obtained so far, which, however, will require much more detailed elaboration in the future (after the family archive has been made fully accessible). So far, it contains 45 compositions of classical music for various instruments, chamber ensembles, choirs and orchestras. A large part of the work consists of appendices, mostly from the Dadák family archives, which illustrate the composer's personality, his musical thinking and socio-political events during his lifetime. In the audio appendices we will find a cross-section of his cimbalom/folklore work, including parts of his lectures on music.
