Sportovci v karate i taekwondu využívají v trénincích a zápasech kopy dolními končetinami, a i proto je poranění této části těla nejčastější. Testovaná skupina dosahovala průměrného věku 20,6 +- 3,1 let, výšky 164,3 +- 9,4 cm a váhy 61,0 +- 11,3 kg. The karate and taekwondo athletes use lower limb kicks during their trainings and matches, which is why injuries of this part of the body occur. These injuries include sprained ankle, subluxation of kneecap, patellar tendinitis, hamstring injuries and pubalgia. The aim of this diploma thesis was to evaluate the relationship between the results achieved in pre-season testing and the risk of lower limb injuries among Taekwondo and Karate university athletes. The study was carried out with a total of 19 participants of which 7 were karatekas (3 men, 4 women) and the remaining 12 were taekwondoists (4 men, 8 women). The average age of the participants was 20,6 +- 3,1 years, the average height was 164,3 +- 9,4 cm and the average weight was 61,0 +- 11,3 kg. Each of the participants filled in the form in which he/she specified what injuries he/she suffered during the sport. Also, the participants were tested on asymmetry of the force produced in the lower limbs during different vertical jumps (Squat Jump, Countermovement Jump, Abalakov Jump), flexibility during Sit and Reach (S&R) test and core muscle endurance with McGill Core Endurance (McGill) test. For measuring the relationship between the variables, the Spearman's correlation coefficient (rs) was used. The results of the study show that the use of S&R test among the karate and taekwondo athletes is not of significant importance as the "above average" results were achieved by each of the probands. Although the study proved that for karate and taekwondo athletes there is a "fair" relation between the incidents with sprained ankle and the bad results in McGill test (rs = 0,3), respectively the incidents with hamstring injuries and the presence of at least 15% asymmetry resulted in Squat Jump (rs = 0,3), the testing methods and procedures used in this study do not provide an effective tool for prediction of the lower limb injuries in karate and taekwondo athletes as the correlation between individual variables is too weak.
