The thesis deals with the influence of subjective estimation on differentiation of muscle exertion at a handgrip. It compares the influence of subjective estimation of muscle exertion on a preferred and an unpreferred hand. The theoretical part is aimed at anatomy, kinesiology and biomechanics of the hand. This thesis presents the significance of the power of handgrip in connection with motor control on a neurophysiological basis. 55 healthy men of the age of 22.4 ? 2.23, with an average height of 1.82 ? 0.06m and average weight of 77.45 ? 10.42 kg underwent this experiment. Lateral preference of the upper limb was defined for every subject before the measurement. A standardized position was established before the measurement. Every subject executed his maximum possible muscle isometric contraction on a hand dynamometer. Afterwards he pressed the dynamometer with 75%, 50% and with 25% intensity of his maximum power. The power of the handgrip was measured 2-3 times on the above mentioned percentage levels for both hands. Retrieved data was analyzed and statistically processed. Results of this research showed that the preferred hand is more powerful and it is more accurate in the estimation of muscle contraction than the other hand. The research proved statistically significantly smaller differences between the measured and theoretical value of a handgrip with 75% intensity than with 50% intensity. The fact that the estimation is more accurate with higher intensity of the muscle exertion was proven. The measurement proved a high reliability of strength produced on all handgrip levels of strength.
