Magisterská diplomová práce je zaměřena na způsob zobrazení reálné postavy malíře - Vincenta van Gogha - v rámci fikčního žánru filmové biografie. V teoretické části je analyzován vzájemný vztah malířství a filmu, reprezentace malíře ve filmu a proces transformace výtvarných obrazů do obrazu filmového. Teoretické poznatky jsou následně aplikovány na čtyři celovečerní biografické filmy o Vincentu van Goghovi: Žízeň po životě (Lust for Life, 1956), Vincent & Theo (1990), Van Gogh (1991) a The Eyes of Van Gogh (2005).This thesis is devoted to the way how is real person ? Vincent van Gogh ? portrayed in fiction genre of the biopic. The reciprocal relation between movie and painting, the representation of a painter in movies and the process of transformation of art image to the movie image is analysed in the first theoretical part. Theoretical knowledge is sequentially applied to four feature-lenght biopics about Vincent van Gogh: Lust for Life (1956), Vincent & Theo (1990), Van Gogh (1991) and The Eyes of Van Gogh (2005).
