The subject of this thesis is a translation of an informative text, which deals with the subject of Japanese economy, and an analysis of the translated text, which focuses mostly on the influence of the cultural differences on a translation. Significant part of this analysis also deals with the problems connected with the transcription of Japanese words. This part is intended for translators, who are not experienced in Japanese language, but who has to deal with its transcription, in case there are Japanese words in the text. The basic method employed to meet the aim of this thesis contained the study of texts that deal with the subject of Japanese economy and translation theory. It was also necessary to study some texts dealing with the theory of Japanese grammar and the subject of transcription of Japanese to Latin alphabet. This paper should serve as an example that even translators, who are not so experienced in transcribing Japanese language, have to follow the rules for transcribing Japanese words stated in this work, even when translating from English.
