Autor se nejprve zaměřuje na teoretické uchopení profesní a následně žurnalistické etiky a zabývá se otázkou, k čemu a proč se vytvářejí etické kodexy. Hlavní část práce se věnuje Etickému kodexu novináře, který je srovnáván s dalšími novinářskými kodexy, a to především s Deklarací principů novinářského chování, Etickým kodexem novinářů USA, Britským novinářským kodexem vydaným Britskou tiskovou radou a kodexem časopisu Týden. Z materiálů Komise pro etiku při Syndikátu novinářů ČR jsou uvedeny příklady porušování Etického kodexu novináře a současně ukázky, jak Komise řeší stížnosti na neetické počínání novinářů.At first the autor concentrates on theoretical handle of professional and then journalistic ethic and she occupies with a question for what and why are the ethical codes created. The main part of the labour is engaged in the Ethical code of journalist, which is compared with other journalist?s codes especially with IFJ Declaration of Principles on the Conduct of Journalists, USA Code of Ethics, Code of Practice and with the code of the magazine Týden. Via the Commission for ethic by the Syndicate of journalists of Czech Republic are shown the cases of breaking the Ethical code and how The Commision solve the complaints on unethical work of journalists.
