Práce popisuje Evropský parlament a jeho pozici v institucionální struktuře Společenství. Text je rozdělen do několika částí, kde je postupně popsána historii jeho vzniku, vnitřní organizace a složení, pravomoci Evropského parlamentu, jeho srovnání s národním parlamentem, dále popisuje jeho roli jako strany v řízení před Evropským soudním dvorem a součinnost s národními parlamenty, v závěru se práce zabývá Evropským parlamentem ve Smlouvě o Ústavě pro Evropu.The thesis describes the European Parliament and its position within the institutional structure of the European Community. The text is divided into several parts which illustrate the history of EP formation, its inner organization and composition, the competence, the comparison to the national parliament and, furthermore, the description of its role as a litigant of legal proceedings at the European Court of Justice and the EP interaction with the national parliaments. Finally, the position of EP inside the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe.
