This diploma thesis deals with positron electron annihilation spectroscopy of doppler broadening in coincidence and non-coincidence measurements. The first part is devoted to the theoretical basis of positron physics - the history of the positron, interactions of positrons with matter, and above all the basics of positron annihilation spectroscopy. The practical part is mainly devoted to the comparison of both measurement approaches (coincidence and non-coincidence) on several selected samples. Using spectroscopy, elemental dependence, the influence of defects are investigated and, last but not least, we compare measurements on a sample of stainless steel CL20ES. In conclusion, the results and findings of this diploma thesis are summarized.
