Introduction: Motor imagery training has a positive effeckt on the humans motor skills. Aim: The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the changes in the EMG activity of the distal muscles of both lower limbs (m. tibialis anterior and m. gastrocnemius medialis) during motor imagery of gait on a line and gait on a slackline. Methods: 20 healthy participants with an average age of 24 +- 1.35 years, an average height of 164.5 +- 11.15 cm and an average weight of 62 +- 14.22 kg were included in the study. The ability of good motor imagery was tested according to the MIQ-R questionnaire. As part of the experiment, the EMG activity of the gastrocnemius medialis muscle and tibialis anterior muscle was measured while imagining walking on a line and while imagining walking on a slackline. Muscle activity was measured using surface electromyography. The average values of EMG activity in the phase of rest and in the phase of motor imagery were compared. Subjects were randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group that received motor imagery training and a non-training control group Results: Within the experimental group, a significant change in EMG activity was recorded in the case of the right gastrocnemius medialis muscle and the left tibialis anterior muscle after the control measurement of gait on the line. In the control group, no significant changes in EMG activity were detected after the second measurement of gait on the line. The effect of motor imagery training of gait on a line was statistically confirmed in the intergroup comparison for the right tibialis anterior muscle. No statistically significant differences in EMG activity were recorded for motor imagery of gait on the slackline. Conclusion: Motor imagery training affected the EMG activity of some muscles. Both decreases and increases in EMG activity were observed.
