The diploma thesis focuses on the role of the Russian Federation in international organizations - the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Council of Europe. The Russian role in these organizations is explored by two-level games theory. This theory is applied to two case studies - Russia's role in the OSCE during the conflict in Ukraine and the role of Russia in the Council of Europe during the Russian-Chechen conflicts. The thesis is partly focused on identifying the principles of Russian foreign policy with the principles of both organizations.
