K deskripci využil popisných statistik a rešerše literatury. Pro zpracování dat byly využity programy Microsoft Excel a Stata 13.0.This bachelor thesis focuses on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) describing all three regions of SIDS as well as the group as a whole. The author created a dataset containing 14 variables divided into five categories: geographical, socioeconomical, environmental, demographical and political. Research of literature and descriptive statistics were used for the description of SIDS. The last chapter is focused on the regional comparison of all variables. T-tests and 95% confidence intervals were used as tools for the comparison. The null hypothesis stated that there is no difference between two regions being compared. This hypothesis was refused in 13 of 42 comparisons at 1%, 5% or 10% relevance levels. The Caribbean region is the most developed out of SIDS, having the highest number of comparisons in their favour. The least number of statistically significant differences are between the pacific and AIMS region, leading to the conclusion that these two regions are more similar to each other than to the Caribbean region. Microsoft Excel and Stata 13.0 software was used to edit and process the dataset.
