Diet is a well-known healing method in traditional Amazonian medicine, however it is not well known at the scientific circles. The aim of this thesis is to explore the experience of the participants of diet at the Takiwasi centre. The motivation behind their participation, experience during the diet, significance of using plants in the process, subjective psychological experiences and evaluating the centre's services. In the theoretical part the thesis describes a traditional Amazonian medicine, changed states of consciousness, Ayahuasca, Takiwasi and current research on the subject. The research sample consists of 7 participants 4 women and 3 men. The data was obtained by semi-structured interviews which were later analysed by qualitative IPA method. We found that the reason to undertake the diet was a desire to self-discovery, self and spiritual development, interest in plants and professional realization. The experience was an intensive one the participants achieved self-acceptance, self-discovery, mental balance, rest and cleansing. They gained energy, connected with nature and got closer to faith. Plants were fundamental in the process, using them was difficult with healing potential and ability to pass on learning through establishing a relationship with plants. During the diet most of the participants were able to connect with their emotions. They rate the centre's services as professional.
