Disertační práce pojednává o třech filmech slovenského scenáristy a režiséra Eduarda Grečnera natočených v šedesátých letech: Každý týždeň sedem dní (1964), Nylonový mesiac (1965) a Drak sa vracia (1967). K tomu mi slouží zejména aplikace konceptů Iana W. Macdonalda screen idea a Screen Idea Work Group. The dissertation deals with three films by Slovak screenwriter and director Eduard Grečner produced in the 1960s: Seven Days Every Week (1964), Nylon Moon (1965) and The Dragon's Return (1967). The dissertation focuses on the genesis of Grečner's films, emphasizing their literary inception and development in the context of Slovak cinema of the late 1950s and 1960s. While comparing and contrasting film stories, literary screenplays, shooting scripts and the films themselves and at the same time taking into account various non-filmic archival sources (correspondence, minutes, written reviews, production and distribution documents etc.) and other types of materials (for instance oral sources, articles in contemporary press) I trace the development of individual projects beginning with the story and ending with the finished film. One of the aims of the dissertation is to identify to what extent the finished films reflect Eduard Grečner's authorial vision and to what extent he was forced to succumb to the pressures of other participants on the screenplay development. Even though I necessarily take into account institutional mechanisms of the Slovak cinema in the 1950s and 1960s, they do not constitute the main subject of the dissertation. My main objective is to describe how these mechanisms influenced the screenplays and thus the films of Eduard Grečner. To accomplish this aim, I use the Ian W. Macdonald's concepts of the screen idea and Screen Idea Work Group.
