Cieľom bakalárskej práce je analyzovať konštrukciu a premenu maskulínnej identity hlavnej postavy seriálu Breaking Bad (2008 2013) s využitím vybraných poznatkov zo semiotiky, naratológie a postštrukturalizmu. Túto tvorbu významu podmieňujú limity a možnosti dané interakciou textu, recipienta a kontextu. The goal of this work is to analyze the masculine identity construction and transformation of the main character of the series Breaking Bad (2008 - 2013) using the selected knowledge of semiotics, narratology and poststructuralism. The analysis focuses on the process during which the character of Walter White represents different types of masculinities (especially patriarchal masculinity, hyper-masculinity and "reconstructed" masculinity), thereby exposing ambiguities and inconsistencies at his masculine identity. I also use the concept of power relations, such as it has been defined by Foucault in which power is seen as punitive as well as a productive force exerted on the conduct of the subject. It implicitly asserts that a certain category of masculinity creates Disposition of possible acts to masculine subject. The types of masculinity that embody the character of Walter White may not be explicitly named. It assumes the existence of connotative textual layer that constitutes body of latent meanings. The production of meaning is conditioned by both the limits and the possibilities given by interaction of text, context and viewer.
