Zaznamenali jsme průkazný okamžitý efekt seče a významný vliv pastvy prováděné v dlouhodobém měřítku. Z krátkodobého hlediska seč negativně ovlivňovala především abundance méně pohyblivých skupin, tj. zejména nelétavých taxonů. Naopak v dlouhodobém horizontu extenzívní seč, prováděná jednou ročně a pokud možno heterogenně v prostoru i čase, podporovala druhové bohatství většiny studovaných skupin. Výjimku představují některé druhy stenotypických karnivorů (Carabus sylvestris) a herbivorů (Timarcha metallica), jejichž zvýšené abundance na sjezdovkách vysvětlujeme zvýšenou potravní zásobou v prostoru lyžařských tratí. S ohledem na velmi malý rozsah hodnotných ploch primárního bezlesí alpinní zóny v kontextu celé střední Evropy doporučujeme posuzovat další rozvoj středisek zimní rekreace nad horní hranicí lesa velmi obezřetně.Since the Neolithic until early modern times, human activities enabled survival of many species associated with open habitats. On the contrary, industrial and traffic development and intensification of agriculture have lead to substantial biodiversity decline during last centuries. Last two decades brought the phenomenon of Agri-environmental schemes - so far the most important attempt to support environment-friendly agriculture. The main goal of Agri-environmental subsidies is to promote biodiversity of farmland. Yet some recent studies reported on mixed effects of management under Agri-environmental schemes on biodiversity of wild species. Therefore, one of the aims of this study was to evaluate the effects of agricultural management on invertebrates communities associated with submontane grasslands farmed with the support of Agri-environmental subsidies. First, we investigated immediate response of invertebrates on the two most common management treatments, i.e. mowing and grazing. Second, we focused on the long-term effects of four diverse management measures. Additionally, we examined the effect of linear landscape structures (i.e. grass baulks and tree and shrub groves) on distribution of invertebrates within the study sites. We worked with arthropods as the study group, evaluating their responses on two levels: (i) abundance of higher taxa, mainly orders, (ii) abundance and species richness of target groups, i.e. Bombus spp., Lepidoptera, Coleoptera and Orthoptera. Despite the "nature-friendly" management, we have found significant immediate impacts of mowing and, concurrently, long-term effects of grazing on invertebrates. On short-time scale, mowing negatively influenced mostly less mobile, flightless taxa. In contrast, long-term mowing performed once every year supported the highest species richness within the most of investigated taxa. Additionally, both types of margins substantially affected the invertebrate community structure and distribution within the sites. The majority of taxa were positively associated with one or both of these linear features. The second part of thesis is focused on evaluation of winter recreation as one of the most important anthropogenic activities affecting primary treeless habitats above the alpine timberline. We studied the effect of alpine ski-slopes on epigeic beetles in the Praděd National Nature Reserve. We have found significant effect of the ski-slopes on the epigeic beetle community including its functional diversity, although the conservation status determines specific, nature-friendly conditions. Our results showed noticeable decline in abundance of most species in the patches with artificially increased accumulation of snow, i.e. close to the interior edges of the ski-slopes. Using mixed modelling approach, we found that ski-slopes primarily supported vagile widespread generalists (Amara lunicollis, Poecilus versicolor) and herbivores associated with Vaccinium vegetation and nitrophilous plants. In contrast, the relic alpine species such as Neagolius limbolarius, Minota carpathica, Liotrichus affinis etc. usually have not preferred ski-slopes. In spite of above mentioned, we recorded highest abundances of some stenotypic carnivores (Carabus sylvestris) and herbivores (Timarcha metallica) within the ski-slopes. This trend might be explained by the increased food supply on the ski-slopes. With respect to small extent of alpine treeless zone in the context of the whole Central Europe, we recommend considering very cautiously any potential expansion of ski resorts, even those with reasonable operation.
