Tato práce se zabývá strategiemi zvládání stresu a osobnostní charakteristikou osob pracujících se seniory. Teoretická část obsahuje kapitoly Stres, Osobnost, Osoby pracující se seniory a kapitolu věnující se výzkumům strategií zvládání stresu a osobnostních charakteristik. V praktické části práce byly použity dva inventáře Strategie zvládání stresu (SVF 78) a NEO osobnostní inventář (NEO-FFI). Podmínkou pro účast ve výzkumu byl výkon práce pracovníka v sociálních službách, který pracuje v domově pro seniory nebo domě s pečovatelskou službou. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 117 respondentů. Bylo zjištěno, že se osobnostní profil osob pracujících se seniory liší od normy. Dále byla zjištěna statisticky významné pozitivní korelace mezi Neuroticismem a strategií Sebeobviňování, mezi Extraverzí a strategií Kontrola reakce a mezi Přívětivostí a strategií Potřeba sociální opory. Statisticky významná negativní korelace byla zjištěna mezi Otevřeností vůči zkušenosti a strategií Odklon a Svědomitostí a negativními strategiemi zvládání stresu. Nebyla nalezena žádná souvislost mezi délkou praxe v sociálních službách a strategií Potřeba sociální opory, ani mezi Svědomitostí a stoupajícím věkem.This thesis deals with coping strategies and personality traits among people taking care of senior citizen. The theoretical part of this thesis contains the chapters Stress, Personality, People taking care of senior citizen and a chapter devoted to research into coping strategies and personality traits. In the practical part were used two inventories SVF 78 and NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI). The condition for participation in the research was the performance of the work of a worker in social services who works in a home for elderly or a nursing home. There were 117 respondents who took part in the research. The results of the research show that personality profile of people taking care of senior citizen differs from the norm. Furthermore there were a statistically significant positive correlation between Neuroticism and the strategy of Self-blaming, between Extraversion and the Control of Reaction strategy and between Agreeableness and strategy Need of Social Support. A statistically significant negative correlation were found between Openness to Experience and Diversion strategy and Conscientiousness and negative coping strategies. No connection have been found between duration of practice in social services and Need of Social Support, nor between Conscientiousness and rising age.
