Pravomoci prezidenta České republiky jsou často předmětem diskuzí právníků, politologů i politických elit. Obdorníci se neshodují nejen v tom, co je a co již není v kompetenci prezidenta republiky, ale také na tom, co by v pravomoci prezidenta být mělo a co spíše ne. Nejvýraznější je pak působení prezidenta při řešení vládní krize; při jmenování a odvolávání některých vysokých státních úředníků, či při schvalování a podepisování zákonů.The powers of the president of the Czech Republic are often subject of discussions of the lawyers, the political scientits and the political elits, too. Their opinions differ not only in what really is and what already is not in the power of the president of the republic, but also what should have been in his power and what rather not. The Czech Republic is the country with parliamentary type of systeme, where the powers of the head of state are quite reduced. In spite of this, the even short history of country showed that the presidents could be very strong. The strength of the president arise in periods of weaker Cabinet or when the Cabinet is less operational. The activity of the president is most distinct during the solving of the Cabinet crisis; during the nomination and abjuration some of the high officials, or during the approving and signating the law.
