Diplomová práce se věnuje laikům v církvi a ukazuje jim, že jsou její důležitou součástí, se kterou se počítá. Skrze historii laiků docházíme ke zjištění, že tato tématika se netýká jen současnosti, ale že její počátky spadají do prvotní církve. Laici jsou povoláni ke svatosti, a to dosvědčuje exkurz o životech světců v českých zemích, mezi nimiž byli i laici. Tudíž svatost je dosažitelná pro všechny. Celé téma završuje život Štěpána kardinála Trochty a jeho dílo, které se věnuje převážně laikům. Analýzou jeho obsahu docházíme k tomu, že je stále aktuální a dá se aplikovat na současnost. Diplomová práce je zakončena fotografiemi kardinála Trochty a dvěma ukázkami jeho pastýřských listů.This diploma thesis deals with the concept of laity in the church and shows that they are an important part of it that can be relied on. Thanks to the knowledge of the history of laity we can reach the conclusion that this issue does not concern just the present, but that its origins can be traced back to the early church. The laity are called to holiness, which is testified by the excursion on the lives of the saints in Bohemia, among whom there were the laity as well. This implies that holiness is attainable for all. The whole subject of this dissertation is completed by the life of Cardinal Štěpán Trochta and his work, which is devoted primarily to laymen. The analysis of its content supports the conclusion that the holiness for laity is still relevant and can be applied to the present. The thesis is concluded by photographs of Cardinal Trochta and two examples of his pastoral letters.
