Magisterská diplomová práce analyzuje vliv rusko-gruzínské války na vztahy mezi Ruskou federací a Spojenými státy americkými. Tyto vztahy jsou sledovány od rozpadu Sovětského svazu a text se zvláště zaměřuje na období, kdy oba státy byly nuceny zaujmout stanovisko ke konfliktu. Součástí cíle je tak blíže porozumět samotné pětidenní válce v roce 2008 a jejím důsledkům. Text se také zaměřuje na vztahy Washingtonu ke Gruzii, jednomu z aktérů války. Práce staví na hypotéze, že rusko-gruzínská válka nevedla ke zhoršení vztahů mezi Ruskou federací a Spojenými státy americkými. Rusko-americká spolupráce se ukázala jako priorita a ochlazení vztahů mezi Moskvou a Washingtonem, z důvodu ozbrojeného konfliktu mezi Ruskem a americkým partnerem Gruzií, nenastalo. Diplomová práce je členěna do pěti hlavních kapitol. Cílem první z nich je nahlédnout na koncepce zahraničních politik obou států a na základě teoretických východisek analyzovat jejich reakce na mezinárodní dění. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na příčiny konfrontace o území Jižní Osetie a pozornost je věnována dlouhodobým sporům mezi Tbilisi a Cchivnali a mezi Gruzií a Ruskem. Další část analyzuje průběh samotné války v srpnu 2008 a její vliv a důsledky. Čtvrtá kapitola se věnuje vztahům USA a Gruzie před vypuknutím pětidenního konfliktu, kdy Washington představoval pro Tbilisi významného partnera. Poslední část textu má za cíl analyzovat, zda se po rusko-gruzínské válce změnily vztahy mezi USA a Gruzií a jaký to mělo vliv na partnerství mezi Moskvou a Washingtonem.The master thesis has the objective to analyze the influence of the Russian-Georgian war in the relations between the Russian Federation and the United States of America. These relations are observed since the the collapse of the Soviet Union and the text is especially adressing the period in which both countries were forced to take a position to the conflict. The goal is to get futher insights to the five-day war in 2008 and its consequences. The paper furthermore focuses on Washington?s relations to Georgia, one of the main actors in the war. The thesis is based on the assumptions that the Russian-Georgian war did not lead to a deterioration of relations between the Russian Federation and the United States of America. Russian-American cooperation was proved to be a priority and cooling relations between Moscow and Washington because of armed conflict between Russia and Georgia, an American partner, did not occur. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first one aims on the analyzis of the concepts of foreign policy of both countries as well as on the theoretical background in order to analyze their response to international events. The second chapter focuses on the rationale of confrontation in the territory of South Ossetia and special attention is tributed to the long dispute between Tbilisi and Georgia and Cchivnali and Moscow. The following part analyzes the course of the war in August 2008 and its impact and consequences. The fourth chapter examines the relationship of U.S. and Georgia to the time right ahead of the outbreak of a five-day war when Washington posed an important partner for Tbilisi. The fift and the last part of the paper elaborates the question whether the Russian-Georgian war has influenced and changed the relationship between the U.S. and Georgia as well as the impact on partnership between Moscow and Washington.
