Práce je věnována vztahům církve a společnosti v Polské lidové republice v letech 1978?1980. Autorka nejdříve popisuje reakce jednotlivých složek společnosti na zvolení polského kardinála Wojtyły papežem a posléze věnuje svou pozornost jeho první návštěvě v Polsku. Jsou popsány strategie a taktiky režimu, role mládeže a působení bezpečnostních složek v průběhu papežovy návštěvy. Autorka se zaměřuje na konkrétní důsledky návštěvy. Závěrem je nastíněn vztah církve ke vznikajícímu hnutí Solidarita.The diploma thesis deals with the problematical relations of the church and society in years 1978?1980 in People's Republic of Poland. The author describes reactions of the different parts of polish society to the election of Polish Cardinal Wojtyła as a Pope. Its natural consequence was his first visit of communist Poland. The visit was important impulse not only for Roman Catholic Church, but also for dissent and whole society. The author described the work of communist Security Service during the visit, attitude of Polish youth to Pope's visit, and strategies and tactics of communist regime to decrease the participation of Poles in the visit in general. The connection between the results of the event and the rise of the Trade Union Solidarity is discussed as well as the relation of Polish Church to the rising Solidarity. The diploma thesis research was based on an official and non-official press, archival documents and materials of communist Security Service etc.
