Tato práce se věnuje problematice euthanasie v naší společnosti. Práce je strukturovaná do 5 celků. První část se snaží postihnout historický vývoj daného tématu. Zahrnuje kapitoly pojednávající o této tematice, o tom jak byla z hlediska dějin morálně vnímána významnými mysliteli tehdejší doby a celou společností od pravěku, přes antiku, období středověku, novověk, nedávnou minulost až po současnost. Druhá část je věnována dělení euthanasie. Jsou zde vymezeny jednotlivé druhy euthanasie tak, jak se o nich v dnešní diskuzi hovoří. Jde o aktivní euthanasii, pasivní euthanasii, přímou euthanasii, nepřímou euthanasii, dobrovolnou euthanasii, nedobrovolnou euthanasii, sociální euthanasii a prenatální euthanasii. Dané pojmy jsou definovány a podrobeny lehké úvaze. Pozornost je věnována také problematice asistované sebevraždy a living will. Část třetí spojuje pojmy z části druhé do dvojic, podrobuje je srovnání, naznačuje jejich úskalí a rozdíly. Část čtvrtá se zaměřuje na některé názory hodnotící euthanasii, jejich etická východiska a možné alternativy k euthanasii, které ji mají nahradit. Jsou zde uvedeny argumenty směřující proti euthanasii, stejně tak jako názory ospravedlňující euthanasii a podporující její legalizaci. Poslední část se zamýšlí nad spojitostí mezi interrupcí a euthanasií, při čemž je věnována pozornost zdravotně a mentálně defektním plodům. Euthanasie je předmětem mnoha diskuzí ve společnosti. Naše obava ze smrti, tajemného konce života, je důvodem, proč o euthanasii stále častěji hovoříme.The thesis deals with the problem of euthanasia in our society. The work is structured into 5 parts. The first part aims to cover historical development of this topic. It consists of chapters dealing with this issue, the perspective it was seen from through the history by famous thinkers of that times and by the society since prehistoric ages, through the ancient world, the Middle Ages, modern period, recent past and till present. Second part deals with division of euthanasia. There are stated particular kinds of euthanasia as they are mentioned within nowadays discussions. It is an active euthanasia, passive euthanasia, direct euthanasia, indirect euthanasia, voluntary euthanasia, non-voluntary euthanasia, social euthanasia and prenatal euthanasia. Given terms are defined and are lightly analyzed. The attention is paid to the problems of assisted suicide and living will. The third part combines terms from the second part into pairs; it compares them, and shows their difficulties and differences. The fourth part pays attention to some opinions about euthanasia, their ethical resources and possible alternatives towards euthanasia that could substitute it. It shows the arguments leading towards against euthanasia as well arguments for its legalization. Last part considers the possibility of connection between abortion and euthanasia and the attention is paid to handicapped and mentally affected foetus. Euthanasia is an important issue dealt with in many discussions in society. Our anxiety of death, mysterious end of a life, is the reason why we speak of euthanasia more often lately.
