Cílem práce je přispět konkrétní případovou studií k postižení tendencí ve vývoji moderní podoby žánru literárního hororu. Tématem bude srovnání děl dvou výrazných osobností současné hororové literatury: Stephena Kinga a Cliva Barkera. Forma srovnávací studie má za úkol postihnout společné rysy i specifika tvorby obou autorů a zasazením do širšího kontextu moderní hororové literatury demonstrovat evoluční procesy uvnitř žánru. Metoda srovnání motivů, postupů a témat má přispět ke zmapování podstatných rysů dané literární produkce, které lze sledovat v období ?setkání? zmíněných autorů a jejichž analýza může přispět k hledání pevných bodů i literárních inovací.The goal of the thesis is to contribute to the description of tendencies in the development of modern form of horror literature. The subject is comparison of two outstanding personas of contemporary horror literature: Stephen King and Clive Barker. The aim of the thesis in form of a comparative study is to describe common features and specifics of both authors, and to illustrate evolution processes within the genre by setting it into broader context of the modern horror literature. The method of comparing motifs, principles, and themes should contribute to the process of charting constituent features of the relevant literary production, which is possible to render in an ?encounter? of the mentioned authors, and whose analysis may conduce to the search of both fixed points and literary innovations.
