Náplní této diplomové práce jsou překlady tří povídek ("I, Rhoda Manning, Go Hunting with My Daddy", "Entropy" a "The Golden Bough") americké spisovatelky Ellen Gilchristové, které vyšly v roce 2002 v povídkové sbírce I, Rhoda Manning, Go Hunting with My Daddy, And Other Stories, a jejich následný komentář, který je zaměřený na překladatelské postupy. Práce obsahuje i medailon spisovatelky. Nejdůležitější části a závěry, ke kterým se v práci dospělo, jsou popsány v anglickém shrnutí.In this thesis, three short stories ("I, Rhoda Manning, Go Hunting with My Daddy", "Entropy", and "The Golden Bough") by an American writer Ellen Gilchrist, published in I, Rhoda Manning, Go Hunting with My Daddy, And Other Stories (2002), are translated and their translations are analysed; the analysis focuses on translation methods. The thesis also contains Gilchrist?s profile. The most important parts and conclusions achieved in the thesis are recapitulated in the résumé written in English.
