Dokumentární film postrádá teoretický i analytický aparát. Samotný název je podle mnohých filmařů nepřesný a nevhodný. Dokumentární portrét místa je jedním z většinových žánrů tohoto odvětví v českém prostředí. Na základě definice dokumentárního portrétu místa, kterou sepsal Jan Gogola ml. jsme vybrali tři filmy, které jsme dále podrobili analýze. Potvrdili jsme tezi, že tento žánr je možné považovat za kodifikovaný žánr v rámci českého dokumentární filmu.Documentaries do not have fixed theories. After reading some basic theoretical works we made a decision, that we can sort documentaries in subgenres or genres. And we will name them after other genres in humanities. Portrait of a place is the most frequent genre in Czech Republic. We made an analysis of three Czech documentaries, which we chose according to a definition of Jan Gogola. We have confirmed our theses, that Portrait of a place is codified genre in Czech Republic. And we also have founded out, that there are methods how to analyse documentaries and how to sort them out.
