Jsou zde popsány první sociální statistiky a vztah médií k sociálním statistikám. Druhá kapitola je zaměřena na zdroje špatných statistik. Obsahuje i vysvětlení pojmu temná figura a najdeme zde znaky špatných statistik. Třetí kapitola nás seznámí s mutantními statistikami. Čtenář se dozví, co znamená tento pojem a jaké jsou příčiny jejich vzniku.
