Práce se primárně zabývá analýzou čtyř komiksů: V for Vendetta a Watchmen od Alana Moora a The Adventures of Luther Arkwright a Heart of Empire Bryana Talbota. S výjimkou Heart of Empire byly všechny tyto komiksy vytvořeny v posledním desetiletí studené války, a kromě doby vzniku mají společný i žánr alternativní historie a téma koncentrace moci a jejího zneužívání. Předmětem analýzy jsou autokratické režimy, které se v těchto komiksech nachází, jejich vznik, podoba, ideologie a vedení. Pozornost je věnována rovněž vůdcům opozice proti těmto režimům a především pak způsobům uspořádání posttotalitního světa, které Moore a Talbot skrze svá díla navrhují. Rozbor přihlíží i k době, v níž jednotlivé komiksy vznikaly, a zkoumá, nakolik se historická zkušenost autorů odráží v jejich dílech. Po teoretické stránce práce řeší problematiku české teminologie komiksu a zabývá se rovněž definicí žánru alternativní historie a jejími aspektyThe thesis primarily deals with analysis of four comic books: V for Vendetta and Watchmen by Alan Moore and The Adventures of Luther Arkwright and Heart of Empire by Bryan Talbot. With the exception of Heart of Empire all of them were published in the last decade of the Cold War, and apart from that they also have a common genre, i. e. alternate history, and a common theme of power concentration and abuse. The analysis focuses on autocratic regimes, that developed in these comic books, especially on their origin, characteristics, ideology and leadership, resistance movement against them and also on the post-totalitarian reforms, all the time paying attention to how the real political issues are reflected in the works. Concerning theory, the thesis deals with the Czech terminology of the comics theory and also with the definition of the genre of alternative history and its aspects.
