V úvodní části práce je nastíněn původ a vývoj oktogonální dispozice od antiky po vrcholný středověk. Hlavní část práce je věnována monograficky zpracovaným třem gotickým oktogonálním chrámům na Karlově, v Novém Městě nad Váhem a Opavě-Kateřinkách. Každá ze staveb je zhodnocena ve své středověké stavební fázi na základě analýzy pramenů, literatury, plánové dokumentace a nových zjištění z terénního průzkumu. V práci jsou uvedeny rovněž opravy objektů v 19. a 20. století. Každá ze staveb je zasazena do souvislostí s lokální architekturou oblasti a v závěru jsou řešeny možnosti jejich vzájemné reálné komparace.The introductory part of the thesis treats of the origin and evolution of the octagonal disposition from the Antiquity to the High Middle Ages. The main part is focused on the monographic treatment of the three octagonal churches at Karlov, Nove Mesto nad Vahom and Opava-Katerinky. Each building is reviewed in its medieval phases based on the analysis of the sources of information, literature, plan documentation and new findings of the field survey. The part of the thesis is also dedicated to the summary of reconstructions, executed on the buildings in the 19th and 20th century. Each building is set into the context with the architecture of the local environment and in the conclusion, there are attempts to find the possibility of their relative comparison.
