Cílem práce je zhodnotit úlohu techniky při utváření a udržování totalitní společnosti, jak je vyobrazena ve vybraných dílech světové literatury science fiction. Pozornost je věnována především televiznímu a rozhlasovému vysílání jako prostředkům propagandy a manipulace, sledovacím a odposlouchávacím zařízením a identifikačním čipům jako prostředkům kontroly obyvatelstva a využití kombinace těchto mechanismů v případě počítačů a kyberprostoru. Tyto mechanismy jsou sledovány v odlišných typech společností, a proto je cílem i jejich vzájemná komparace a zhodnocení, do jaké míry je možné na základě těchto mechanismů interpretovat totalitní společnost.Aim of this thesis is to appraise participation of technologies on creating and maintaining totalitarian society, in way how is described in chosen works of world science fiction literature. It is primarily focused on television and radio broadcasting as means of propaganda and manipulation, pursuing and eavesdropping devices and identification chips as mans of inhabitants controlling and combination of these mechanisms in case of computers and cyberspace. These mechanisms are followed in different kinds of societies, and that is way aim of this thesis is also to compare these societies and to appraise to what extent can we interpret society as totalitarian on the basis of these mechanisms.
