Práce se zabývá tancem a jeho místem v aristokratické společnosti raného novověku. Metodologicky se nechala inspirovat prací Norberta Eliase O procesu civilizace. Rozebírá, zkoumá a porovnává různé typy pramenů z období let cca 1500 - 1800. Práce se snaží prokázat Eliasovu koncepci o sociálním procesu, který vede ke stále větší a nevědomé sebekontrole, zabývá se ale i obecně taneční kulturou a částečně dějinami tance. Zaměřuje se ponejvíce na oblast Francie, nicméně jsou zmíněny i odkazy na italské prostředí a pokud je to možno snaží se zmínit i české dobové souvislosti.The work focuses on the dance and its place in the life of aristocratic society in the early modern period. The methodology is based on the conception of Norbert Elias and his The Civilizing Process. Many sources of different character is analyzed and compared. The work tries to prove the conception of Elias concerning the social process, which leads to the still larger and unconscious self-control. It also occupies by the dance culture and some space is given also to the history of the dance. It focuses mainly on the territory of France, but some references are also on the territory of Italy and if it is possible it tries to mention the Czech lands and the period context.
