V první části své práce jsem se zabývala etapami vývoje Pražského lingvistického Kroužku a nastínila jsem oblasti jeho učení. Pražský kroužek vznikl ve druhé polovině dvacátých let a až do roku 1939 zažíval svůj největší teoretický i praktický rozmach. Jazykovědné práce Kroužku vyrůstaly ze spolupráce českých i zahraničních badatelů. Pozornost lingvistů z celého světa si zasloužila řada Travaux linguistique de Prague. Druhá světová válka a následná politická situace utlumila činnost Kroužku. V padesátých letech byl Kroužek nahrazen jinými sdruženími. Po roce 1989 byl Kroužek obnoven a současní představitelé prohlubují či upravují předválečné teze Kroužku. Zároveň se od problémů zvukové roviny jazyka přesunuli spíše do oblasti syntaxe a lexikologie. Pražská škola ovlivnila domácí i zahraniční lingvistiku a řada jejich termínu zdomácněla, vtiskla podobu příbuzným konceptům nebo je nadále upravována a rozvíjena. Pražský lingvistický kroužek byl strukturalistickým směrem, který se ostře vymezil vůči mladogramatickému směru. Charakteristickým rysem pražského strukturalismu je funkční hledisko, které z vyjadřovacích potřeb daného jazykového společenství činí důležité kritérium jazykového rozboru. Dalším specifickým rysem pražské školy je dynamické chápání vztahu mezi jazykovou synchronií a diachronií. Další části mé práce tvoří pojednání o Vilému Mathesiovi, vůdčí osobnosti klasického období Pražského kroužku. Mathesiova výjimečnost tkví v jeho předznamenání nejdůležitějších tezí Pražského Kroužku již před jeho samotným vznikem. Nejpodrobněji jsem se zabývala první kolektivní prací, kterou byly Teze Pražského lingvistického kroužku. Z charakteru Tezí je zřejmé, že Pražský kroužek byl metodicky a myšlenkově sourodá skupina s prostorem pro vlastní názorovou specifičnost. Z Tezí vyplývá hluboký zájem Kroužku o problémy obecné lingvistiky a zároveň snaha vyvodit z teoretického poznání co nejvíce praktických důsledků ve prospěch uživatelů jazyka. Pražský kroužek zanechal dědictví, které je jeho členy rozvíjeno v novém kontextu požadavků současné vědy. Vliv pražské školy je patrný nejen ve slovenské jazykovědě, které se věnuji v samostatné kapitole, ale i v evropské a americké lingvistice.The first part of my work examines the stages of development of the Prague Lin-guistic Circle and outlines the areas of its teaching. The Prague Circle came into existence in the second half of the 1920s and consequently experienced its greatest theoretical as well as practical boom up until the year 1939. The linguistic work of the Circle grew out of co-operation between both Czech and foreign theoreticians. The series Travaux linguistique de Prague attracted the interest of linguists throughout the world. World War II and the consequent political situation logically impacted the Circle?s activities in a negative fashion. In the 1950 the Circle was replaced by other associations. After the year 1989 the Circle was renewed with the current members deepening and adapting the pre-war theses of the original Circle. Additionally, their interests began to move from the sound levels of language to the areas of syntax and lexicology. The Prague School influenced both domestic and foreign linguists with an entire range of their terms becoming key concepts. They have also been greatly influential through connected concepts and additionally continued to adapt and develop their ideas. The Prague Linguistic Circle was a structuralised movement which sharply differentiated itself from the ?Young Grammar? direction. The functional per-spective, amounting to important criteria for language analysis from the expres-sive needs of the given language, is a characteristic feature of Prague Structura-lism. Another specific feature of the Prague School is the dynamic understanding of the relationship between language synchrony and diachrony. The following part of my work focuses on Vilém Mathesius a leading figure of the classic period of the Prague Circle. Mathesius? excellence arises from his anticipation of the most important theses of the Prague Circle even prior to their actual emergence. I pay the greatest attention to their first collective work, that being the Theses of the Prague Linguistic Circle. The Theses demonstrate that the Prague Circle was a methodical and united group with, however, space for their own theoretical specificities. The Theses indicate the deep interest on the part of the Circle in problems of general linguistics and at the same time an attempt at moving from mere theoretical knowledge to more practical results leading to benefits for the actual users of language. The Prague Circle left a heritage behind which its members have developed in the new context of the demands of contemporary science. The influence of the Prague School is apparent, not only in Slovak linguistic science, which I examine in separate chapters, but also in both European and American linguis-tics.
