Tato práce pojednává o modernizačních procesech ve městě Zlíně v období od roku 1900 do roku 1938. Na teoretickém základě podává informace o utváření fyzického a sociálního prostoru modelového města. Základním východiskem je primárně teorie Michela Foucaulta doplněná tezemi dalších teoretiků moderny. Text je rozdělen do třech hlavních kapitol, ve kterých autor postupně charakterizuje období první moderny, pojednává o teorii z díla Michela Foucaulta, kde se zaměřuje na pojetí moci, racionalizace, disciplinace a panoptismu, aby v poslední části dokumentoval tyto teze na reáliích modelového města Zlína, charakteristického obuvnickým průmyslem Tomáše Bati.This paper deals with modernization process in the city of Zlin, between years 1900 to 1938. In theoretical way, it informs readers about constitution of material and social space of this model city. It is primarily based on the theory of M. Foucault extended by works of some other modernistic theoreticians. Firstly, the period of the early modernity is described; secondly main features of Foucault?s theory are mentioned and enlightened. Afterwards these thoughts are applied to example of the city of Zlin, which is specific of its shoe industry. The author came to the conclusion, that elements of the modern project founded in Zlin correspond to the ones described in discussed theory.
