Bakalářská práce zkoumá přirovnání obsahující názvy zvířat používaná v současné britské angličtině. Teoretická část poskytuje podklady potřebné pro analýzu. Praktická část je založena na práci s Britským národním korpusem. V přirovnáních nalezených v BNC jsou zkoumány kolokace slov označující zvířata s jednotlivými slovesy, přídavnými jmény a příslovci a tendence v užívání spojek `like' a `as'.The bachelor thesis focuses on similes containing expressions denoting animals used in contemporary British English. The theoretical part of the thesis provides linguistic background for the research. The practical part is based on data obtained from the British National Corpus (BNC). Similes searched in the BNC are examined and collocations of the animal terms with verbs, adjectives and adverbs explored. Tendencies in the usage of `like' and `as' within the similes are suggested.
