Diplomová práce se zabývá první akciovou společností moderní doby. Podává přehled o jejím založení, mapuje 200 let její existence a poté se podrobně zabývá jejím zaniknutím. Dále popisuje způsob obochodování s Asií a také mezi Evropou a centrem společnosti v Asii s Batávií. Nastiňuje historii Indonésie, která je středoevropanovi velice vzdálená. Práce je zakončena vývojem situace v Indonésii po krachu společnosti a jejím přechodu pod nadvládu Nizozemského království, které se neobešlo bez válečných konfiktů.The thesis is about the first joint-stock company in the world. It describes its foundation, goes through 200 years of its existence and finally it describes in a very detailed way its end. The second part is more about the trade between Europe and Asia, especially between Batavia and Europe. It also characterizes the trade in Asia. The thesis finishes with a short history of Indonesia and after the end of the company it also gives some information regarding the supremacy of the Netherlands in Indonesia.
