Cílem bakalářské práce je nalézt v Konci civilizace filozofická témata, kterým se autor románu - Aldous Huxley - nemohl při popisu dystopické společnosti vyhnout. Práce se soustřeďuje především na komparaci Huxleyho popisu společnosti Konce civilizace v protikladu nebo shodě s vybranými filozofickými koncepcemi ideální společnosti. Zmíněná filozofická témata se objevují ve vybraných filozofických utopiích jako pozitivní, ovšem Huxley je ve svém románu využívá ve smyslu negativním. Klíčem je ukázat autorovu snahu varovat před "realitou" utopických konceptů a snahu o prolomení tradice, která ve více či méně komunistické, totalitární a striktně vědecky založené společnosti spatřuje vizi společnosti ideální. Utopická společnost totiž často vede k redukci svobod obyvatel a na prvním místě je obvykle obecné blaho komunity na úkor potřeb individuí. V úvodu bakalářské práce je naznačeno pozadí a možné inspirace Huxleyho románu, hlavní část je pak vnitřně členěna na sedm kapitol, které porovnávají román s vybranými filozofickými koncepcemi ideálních států a společností.The aim of the bachelor´s thesis is to trace the philosophical themes present in the dystopian novel Brave New World(1932), the themes which the author - Aldous Huxley - cannot omit in the description of the dystopian society present in his novel. The main focus of the thesis lies on Huxley´s depiction of the Brave New World´s society in contrast or in agreement with chosen philosophical conceptions of an ideal society. The philosophical themes have a positive meaning in chosen utopias, although they have negative connotations in Huxley´s novel. The main concern of the thesis is to declare author´s effort to warn against utopias, as well as the effort to break the tradition that considers the more or less communist, totalitarian and strictly scientifically orientated society to be the vision of an ideal society. Utopian society often leads toward the reduction of human liberties and prefers the communitarian interests from the individuals. The introduction to the thesis outlines literary background and possible influences on Huxley´s novel; the main part of the thesis is divided into seven chapters which subsequently provide comparison of the novel and chosen philosophical conceptions of an ideal state.
