Diplomová práce je zaměřena na vývoj vztahu mezi islámem a Západem po útocích z 11. září 2001. Popisuje základy islámu jako náboženství, vysvětluje obsah pojmů fundamentalismus a islámský fundamentalismus, charakterizuje termín Západ, předkládá informace týkající se terorismu a útoků spáchaných 11. září 2001 a jejich důsledků a zabývá se současným vývojem války proti terorismu.My thesis is focused on the development of the relations between Islam and the western civilization after the 9/11 attacks. It describes the principles of Islam as a religion, explains the meaning of the definitions such as Islamic fundamentalism. Further it explains the term West, presents information regarding terrorism, the 9/11 attack and its consequences, and it deals with the present development of the war against terrorism.
