Práca skúma prekážky efektívneho normatívneho pôsobenia Európske únie v andských krajinách Latinskej Ameriky. Vychádza pritom z teoretického konceptu EÚ ako tzv. normatívnej alebo občianskej sily a interregionálnej spolupráce EÚ s krajinami Andského spoločenstva národov (CAN). Práca vychádza a analyzuje nástroje a ciele spolupráce EÚ s CAN, ktoré teoreticky do konceptu normatívnej sily zapadajú. Výsledky snáh EÚ pôsobiť ako normatívna sila a transformovať región Latinskej Ameriky k vlastnému obrazu sú však obmedzené. Práca analyzuje tri hlavné okruhy prekážok špecifických pre región Latinskej Ameriky, ktoré tento obmedzený vplyv spôsobujú.Abstract This Master of Arts Degree Thesis entitled Barriers to EU Normative Influence on the Andean Region of Latin America deals with the international identity of the European Union as derived from the interregional cooperation with Andean Community of Nations (CAN). The thesis is motivated by theoretical concept of the EU as a normative or civilian actor and analyses mechanisms and goals of cooperation between the EU and CAN, which are in accordance with the theory. European Union does not operate militarily in the region and indeed prefers normative mechanisms of mutual cooperation. However, the results of the EU's efforts to act normatively, to transform the region of Latin America to its own image are limited. The thesis aims to analyse the main barriers to more effective normative performance of the EU in the Andean countries of Latin America.
