Tématem diplomová práce je irsko-americká literatura. První část obsahuj teoretický úvod do problematiky přistěhovalectví a etnické literatury a jejich vliv na vývoj americké společnosti a kultury. Druhá část obsahuje historický přehled irsko-americké literatury v 19. a 20. století a speciální podkapitolu, která se věnuje irsko-americkým spisovatelkám, to vše v kontextu historie irského přistěhovalectví do Spojených států a v kontextu života Irů v Americe. Poslední dvě kapitoly obsahují analýzu dvou románů dvou irsko-amerických spisovatelek, jmenovitě románu Mary Doyle Curranové The Parish and the Hill a Elizabeth Cullinanové House of Gold, které jsou příklady významné tématické skupiny irsko-americké literatury, tzv. rodinného románu.The theme of this diploma thesis is Irish-American literature. First part contains theoretical introduction into the general role of immigration and ethnic literature on the development of American society and culture. Second part presents a survey of Irish-American literary history of 19th and 20th century, with a special subchapter on Irish-American female writers, all put into the context of the history of Irish immigration and experience in the USA. The last two chapters focus on the analysis of two novels written by two Irish-American female writers, namely Mary Doyle Curran's The Parish and the Hill and Elizabeth Cullinan's House of Gold, both belonging to domestic novel, an important thematic group of Irish-American literature.
