The aim of this dissertation is to present the issue of pregnancy in the Early-Modern society. This dissertation is an attempt to reflect how this very important event in the life of both mothers and all her relatives could appear. I was engaged a unique primary source - instructional manuals dealing with matters of pregnancy and childbirth in the Early-Modern Age. Their authors followed two basic principles - the clerical of priesthood and the medical of physicians who lived between the 16th and the 18th century. Views of both the manuals were compared and confronted with other contemporary instructional literature as well as personal sources, such as correspondence, etc.
