Osoby s mentálním postižením mohou žít plnohodnotný život, rozvíjet svůj potenciál a naplňovat své lidské potřeby. Tato diplomová práce věnuje pozornost fenoménu mentálního postižení. Její první část představuje teoretický rámec, který s tématem zásadně a šířeji souvisí. Definuje jednotlivé pojmy v oblasti vývojové psychologie a kategorizuje mentální postižení. V hierarchizaci lidských potřeb vychází z obecných postřehů, ale hledá vodítko k jejich aplikaci na skupinu lidí s mentálním postižením. Závěr teoretické části pak zkoumá oblast průniku vyšších (duchovních) lidských potřeb a spirituality, zejména křesťanské. Druhá část práce, která představuje terénní výzkum, dává slovo osobám s mentálním postižením. Právě jejich prožitky a výpovědi o nich pak tvoří základ našich závěrů, které podtrhují smysluplnost naplňování duchovních lidských potřeb v náboženském rámci, kde ani handicap jedince nemusí být překážkou.People with intellectual disabilities can live full lives, develop their potential and fulfil their human needs. This diploma thesis pays attention to the phenomenon of mental disability. Its first part presents a theoretical framework that is fundamentally and more broadly related to the topic. It defines the common terms of the developmental psychology and categorizes mental disabilities. In the hierarchization of human needs, it starts from general observations, but looks for some clues for their application to the group of people with mental disabilities. The conclusion of the theoretical part examines the intersection of higher (spiritual) human needs and spirituality, especially Christian spirituality. The second part of the work, which represents field research, gives a voice to people with mental disabilities. It is their experiences and statements describing them that form the basis of our conclusions, which underline the meaningfulness of fulfilling human spiritual needs in a religious framework, where even an individual's handicap does not have to be an obstacle.
