Předmětem diplomové práce je analýza hvězdného obrazu britského herce Roberta Pattinsona. S oporou v primárních teoretických konceptech Richarda Dyera, Paula McDonalda a Barryho Kinga práce zachytila pohyb hvězdy v komerční i nezávislé kinematografii. The thesis focuses on the analysis of the star image of British actor Robert Pattinson in both commercial and independent cinema. The research is grounded in the fundamental theoretical concepts of Richard Dyer, Paul McDonald, and Barry King. Tara Lomax's concepts of franchise stardom and Judith Butler's performativity of gender have helped define Pattinson's agency in film franchises and his representation of masculinity. The thesis argues that Pattinson is an autonomous prestige brand characterized by his physical and vocal flexibility, as well as his liminality. The research shows that the image of Pattinson as a romantic lead from the Twilight Saga persists in the commercial sector but it evolves and transforms in independent work. Working with auteur directors has provided the actor with symbolic capital, making him a star-auteur. On the other hand, his side activities (modelling and fashion) present distinct forms of masculinity that contribute to the diffusion of Pattinson's star brand across the market. By returning to commercial cinema, Pattinson has demonstrated his versatility, proving to be a star in every medium, almost to the point of being personalized.
