Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vyobrazením Ameriky ve vybraných cestopisech z 2. poloviny 19. století. Cílem této práce je přiblížit kulturněhistorický kontext zájmu o cestování do Ameriky v daném období a porovnat vlastní dojmy vybraných autorů z Ameriky. Práce se zabývá tím, jak Amerika na české cestovatele působila a v jak tuto zemi ve svých cestopisech popsali. Kromě vyobrazení americké krajiny, obyvatel a tamější kultury si práce klade za cíl najít ve vybraných cestopisných dílech kulturní rozdíly mezi českým a americkým prostředím. Každý z cestovatelů má subjektivní pohled na Ameriku, a proto se práce snaží najít průniky v těchto jejich názorech a zachytit tak rozdíly mezi "vlastním" a "cizím".This Bachelor Thesis deals with the depiction of America in selected travelogues from the second half of the 19th century. The aim of this thesis is to provide a cultural and historical context for the interest in travel to America during the period and to compare the selected authors' own impressions of America. The thesis examines how America influenced Czech travellers and how they described the country in their travelogues. In addition to depicting the American landscape, people and culture, the thesis aims to find cultural differences between the Czech and American environments in the selected travelogues. Each of the travelers has a subjective view of America, and therefore the thesis seeks to find intersections in these views and thus capture the differences between the "own" and the "foreign".
