Analytická část práce bude porovnávat redakční postupy a strategie mediálních výstupů v on-line médiích Fox News a The New York Times. V teoretické části práce budou popsány základní definice, typologie a vliv mediální předpojatosti. Následně budou popsány a interpretovány výsledky analýzy. This thesis entitled " Biden vs. Trump: media bias in the 2020 US presidential election" aims to confirm or refute the concept of media bias and polarization in the United States of America using qualitative content media analysis. As a case study, this thesis will focus on the 2020 presidential election and media coverage of the two major presidential candidates, Joseph R. Biden and Donald J. Trump. The analytical part of the work will compare the editorial procedures and strategies of media outputs in the online media of Fox News and The New York Times. In the theoretical part of the thesis, basic definitions, typologies and the influence of media bias will be described. The work will also deal with related concepts such as agenda setting, framing and highlighting topics. Subsequently, the basic characteristics of the functioning of the media in the USA and especially the concept of asymmetric polarization, which is typical for the American media system, will be presented. The analytical part will first present what procedure was chosen for this research and why the chosen method is the most suitable for media content research. Subsequently, the results of the analysis will be described and interpreted. The research conclusions point to the work of selected online media with media coverage of both candidates and how these results indicate media bias and polarization of the American media.
