Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou narativních i stylových složek pěti celovečerních filmů norského režiséra Joachima Triera. Analyzovanými snímky jsou Reprise (2006), Oslo, 31. august (2011), Louder Than Bombs (2015), Thelma (2017) a The Worst Person in the World (2021). Metodologicky práce vychází z neoformalistického přístupu, jenž popsali David Bordwell a Kristin Thompsonová v publikacích Umění filmu: Úvod do studia formy a stylu a Breaking the Glass Armor: Neoformalist Film Analysis. Neoformalistická analýza je funkčně propojena s konceptem poetiky filmu Davida Bordwella, který je popsán v knize Poetics of Cinema. Student se nejprve věnuje teoreticko-metodologickému vymezení, následně se zabývá analýzou narativní formy a stylu jednotlivých filmů. Během analýz jsou identifikovány specifické vzorce kontinuity a změny, které identifikují Joachima Triera jako autorskou osobnost, jež v rámci své filmografie uplatňuje specifické tvůrčí postupy. Tyto vzorce se vyskytují v rámci stylových složek filmů i jejich narativní formy, kde se Joachim Trier zabývá existenciálními tématy spojenými otázkami identity, významu lidské existence, strachu, osamělosti, bezvýchodnost a smrti. V závěru student shrnuje získané poznatky a identifikuje vzorce kontinuity a změny, jejichž funkčnost je ověřitelná pomocí nástrojů a pojmů neoformalistické analýzy užitých v dílčích segmentech analytické části. Záměrem práce je rozšířit povědomí o tvůrčí osobnosti Joachima Triera a jeho poetice v českém odborném prostředí, kde zatím nebyl nikterak reflektován.The thesis deals with the analysis of narrative and stylistic elements in five feature films by Norwegian director Joachim Trier. The analyzed films are Reprise (2006), Oslo, August 31st (2011), Louder Than Bombs (2015), Thelma (2017), and The Worst Person in the World (2021). Methodologically, the work is based on a neoformalist approach described by David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson in publications Film Art: An Introduction and Breaking the Glass Armor: Neoformalist Film Analysis. Neoformalist analysis is functionally linked to David Bordwell's concept of film poetics, which is described in his book Poetics of Cinema. The student first deals with theoretical and methodological definitions, and then analyzes the narrative form and style of each film. During the analysis, specific patterns of continuity and change identify Joachim Trier as an authorial personality who applies specific creative approaches within his filmography. These patterns occur both in the stylistic elements of the films and their narrative forms, where Joachim Trier deals with existential themes related to questions of identity, the meaning of human existence, fear, loneliness, hopelessness, and death. In conclusion, the student summarizes the acquired knowledge and identifies patterns of continuity and change. The functionality of these patterns is to be verified by using neoformalist tools and concepts incorporated in the student's own analysis. The intention of the work is to expand awareness of Joachim Trier's creative personality and his poetics in the Czech academic environment, where he has not been reflected yet.
